Welcome to the Nitro Fund, an innovative initiative by Boost Pad inspired by The Rockefeller Foundation's venture philanthropy model. At Nitro Fund, we're committed to bridging funding gaps for underrepresented founders through a dynamic approach that blends venture capital strategies with philanthropic goals.

What is Venture Philanthropy?

Venture philanthropy fills crucial funding gaps where traditional financing mechanisms fall short, leveraging concepts from venture capital finance to achieve philanthropic objectives. At Nitro Fund, we raise capital and deploy it strategically to support women and BIPOC-owned businesses, driving economic mobility and fostering a more inclusive entrepreneurial landscape in Charlotte. 

Unlike traditional venture capital funds, investment returns are recirculated into the Nitro Fund and not returned to the donor.

Where Your Donations Go:

By donating to the Nitro Fund, you directly contribute to:

1. Providing Programmatic Investments: We aim to raise a $5M pooled capital fund to invest in startup currency, loans, and acceleration capital for businesses founded by Boost Pad program graduates. These investments empower founders to scale their ventures and generate returns that fuel further support for our mission.
2. Funding Essential Initiatives: Up to 25% of the fund can be allocated to fund operations and programming, including early-stage incubators, accelerators, and platform programming.
3. Supporting Underrepresented Founders: Your contributions enable us to take equity positions or provide loans to underrepresented founders, helping them access the capital needed to thrive and contribute positively to our community.
4. Fund Governance: The Nitro Fund is governed by a Board of Managers comprising at least three individuals, including non-Boost Pad board members. This group also serves as the Investment Committee for accelerator investments, ensuring transparency and accountability in our operations.
